Miami enjoyed a full three days of rest entering the Eastern conference finals as they disposed of Indiana in six games. Boston faced a quick turnaround in game one with just one day of rest following a victory in seven games against the eighth seeded Philadelphia 76ers.

Game two saw Boston completely waste an outstanding shooting performance as the club shot 49.4% from the floor in a 115-111 overtime loss. Rajon Rondo had 44 points and played the entire 53 minutes. The Celtics played their starters heavy minutes in game two and with only one day of rest between games in the Eastern conference finals it could catch up to the old Boston players.

The Boston Celtics turned the Eastern conference finals into a series again as they cut into the Miami lead at 2-1 following a 101-91 home win in game three against the Heat as a -2 ½ point favorite. The game came in at over 178 ½ points. Boston was dominant in the win as they led by as much as 24 points against the Heat. As expected the Celtics worked their inside game against the undersized big men of Miami to capture the win. Kevin Garnett led Boston with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Boston finished the game with 58 points in the paint.

Boston has trended strongly against the Miami as the Celtics are now 15-1 straight up in their previous 16 meetings on their home court against the Heat. Boston has covered the point spread in nine of their past ten home games against Miami.
