Ole Miss closed out the season last year strong with consecutive wins at home to LSU, on the road to rival Mississippi St then soundly defeating Oklahoma St 48-20 in their Sugar bowl game. They do have an experienced quarterback returning in senior Chad Kelly to an offense in 2015 that averaged nearly 41 points and gained 518 yards per game. Kelly in his first year as the Ole Miss starter completed 65.1% of his throws for 4042 yards with 31 touchdowns and 13 picks. They are inexperienced in the backfield as junior Jordan Wilkins is ineligible for the season due to academics. In 2014 Wilkins averaged nearly 7 yards a carry on his 52 rushing attempts and in 2015 he averaged 5.3 yards per attempt on 72 runs from scrimmage. A deep threat for Chad Kelly in the passing game is senior wide receiver Quincy Adeboyejo. He had seven receiving touchdowns last year. Adoboyejo caught 38 passes for 604 yards and averaged nearly 16 yards per pass reception. Ole Miss will have to replace six starters from their 2015 defense.

Florida St followed up their 2015 national championship with a record of 10-3. Their losses came at Georgia Tech, Clemson then in the Peach Bowl the Seminoles were upset by Houston 38-24 as a -7 point favorite. This is an experienced offensive team for the Seminoles as only one starter from their 2015 team exiting the program. Unfortunately that one happens to be the quarterback position. Indications are that red shirt freshman Deondre Franciois will get the start. All the weapons in the passing game are back including NFL running back prospect Dalvin Cook who had a monster 2015 campaign by rushing for 1691 yards with 19 touchdowns and 7.4 yards per carry average.
