There will be Day Baseball and it gets underway at 1PM Eastern Time on MLB Network as the Philadelphia Phillies are home to the New York Mets. Starting for Philadelphia will be Aaron Nola to oppose Mets righty Zack Wheeler. Philadelphia opened this series on a seven game losing streak after dropping all three home games over the weekend to Miami. They then have won the first two of this series with the Mets behind strong offensive production. They sit 41-38 after their win on Tuesday and sit five games in the loss column back of the first place Atlanta Braves. Mets sit fourth in the NL East at 37-43 ten games back of Atlanta. New York has dropped seven of ten heading into Wednesday night. Zack Wheeler sits at 6-5 in sixteen starts with ERA of 4.69 and WHIP of 1.30. He does come off a good outing at the Chicago Cubs allowing one run and five hits over seven innings of a 10-2 road win. Aaron Nola has a mark of 6-2 in sixteen starts with ERA of 4.35 and WHIP of 1.45. Nola comes off a good performance at home to Miami allowing one earned run with ten strikeouts over eight innings.

At 7PM Eastern Time on MLB Extra Innings Channel the Miami Marlins host the Washington Nationals. Starting for Washington will be Stephen Strasburg to battle Marlins righty Sandy Alacantara. With the Nationals win in the opener of this series the team has won seven of their past eight games to move to 38-40 and are seven games in the loss column back of first place Atlanta. With their loss the Marlins broke their four game win streak. It is a down season for the Marlins as the team sits in the basement of the NL East with a mark of 30-47. Miami a weak hitting team with a .234 batting average. Nationals weakness is in the bullpen with an ERA of 6.26. Stephen Strasburg enters play at 8-4 in sixteen starts with ERA of 3.79 and WHIP of 1.08. Two starts back he allowed six runs over five innings in a home loss to Arizona. In his last start the righthander allowed three runs over six innings at home to the Atlanta Braves. Sandy Alcantara sits at 4-6 in fifteen starts with ERA of 3.51 and WHIP of 1.41. He comes off a solid outing at Philadelphia allowing one run and eight hits over 7 2/3rd innings of a 2-1 win. He has allowed one earned run or fewer in four of his past five starts.
