The action on ESPN TV gets underway at 4PM Eastern Time as the Pittsburgh Pirates host the Chicago Cubs. Starting for Pittsburgh will be Jordan Lyles who will battle veteran Carlos Quintana. He bounced back with a good start at Cincinnati giving up no runs and six hits over six innings of a 6-0 road win. Jordan Lyles sits at 5-4 in thirteen starts with an ERA of 3.71 and WHIP of 1.22. Lyles returned from the DL with a hamstring problem on Saturday giving up three earned runs and five hits over six innings.

Two NL East contenders meet at 7:20PM Eastern Time on ESPN TV as the Atlanta Braves have a home date with the Philadelphia Phillies. On the hill for Atlanta will be Mike Soroka as he will battle Phillies righty Zach Eflin. With their win in the opener of this series the Phillies moved to 45-40 sitting just four games in the loss column back of the Atlanta Braves. Atlanta moved to 50-36. Zach Eflin has a mark of 7-7 in sixteen starts with an ERA of 3.34 and WHIP of 1.25. Two starts back Eflin was hammered for six runs in five innings at home to the Mets. He responded with an outing at Miami allowing three runs over six innings. Eflin has been hurt by walks and the home run ball. Mike Soroka has put up great numbers sitting with a 9-1 record in fourteen starts with an ERA of 2.13 and WHIP of 0.98. He comes off a good starting assignment at the Mets allowing two runs over 6 1/3rd innings of a 6-2 road win.
