Day baseball is on the schedule and it begins at 1PM Eastern Time on MLB Network as the New York Yankees host the Toronto Blue Jays. Stating for New York will be J.A. Happ to oppose Blue Jays lefty Clayton Richard. New York hit the All Star Break in first place in the AL East division with a record of 57-31 holding an eight game lead in the loss column on the second place Tampa Bay Rays. Despite numerous injuries to their everyday lineup the Yankees were able to post a huge lead in the division. They sit second in Major League Baseball in runs scored posting 5.72 per game and are fourth in homers. Toronto sits hopelessly behind in the AL East with a 34-57 record. Blue Jays are a weak hitting team with a .232 team batting average with a starting pitching staff that has struggled. J.A. Happ sits with a mark of 7-4 on the year in 17 starts with ERA of 5.02 and WHIP of 1.27. He comes off a good outing at Tampa Bay where he allowed one earned run and three hits over 5 1/3rd innings of an 8-4 road win. Clayton Richard is 1-5 in nine starts with an ERA of 6.23 and WHIP of 1.59. In each of his past three starts Richard worked exactly six innings and allowed three earned runs including a start in late June at Yankees stadium.

On FOX TV at 7:15PM Eastern Time the Boston Red Sox have a home date with the LA Dodgers. On the hill for Boston will be lefthander Chris Sale to oppose Dodgers righty Ross Stripling. LA sits comfortably in first place in the NL West coming off the break at 60-32 and the Red Sox are in the hunt for a wildcard at 49-41. Stripling is 3-3 in nine starts with an ERA of 3.79 and WHIP of 1.26. He comes off a home loss to San Diego allowing four earned runs with six hits over 4 1/3rd innings of a 5-3 defeat. Stripling has not made it past five innings in five straight starts. Sale checks in at 3-8 in eighteen starts with an ERA of 4.04 and WHIP of 1.07. He does not get much run support with the Red Sox averaging 4.04 runs per game in his starts. Chris Sale comes off a poor outing at Toronto surrendering five runs with nine hits and three homers over 5 2/3rd innings of a 6-3 road defeat. Prior to that he allowed five runs over six innings in a home loss to the White Sox.
