It all gets underway at 7PM Eastern Time on MLB Network as the New York Yankees host the Boston Red Sox. Starting for Boston will be lefthander Eduardo Rodriguez. The Yankees are leaning to start Domingo German for Friday night and use an opener for the Saturday game. New York has been dealing with injuries to their everyday players. Notables include sluggers Judge and Stanton. Starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia is dealing with a knee injury but is hopeful to return to the team for the start on Sunday. The teams ace on the mound Luis Severino has shoulder inflammation and is due to return to the rotation in late July. Shortstop Gregorius has an elbow injury and is expected back later in June. Despite these major injuries the Yankees sit atop the AL East with a record of 36-19 as the teams opened this series on Thursday. They are tied in the loss column with Tampa Bay. Boston sits eight games in the loss column back of the Yankees and Rays as the team sits two games over .500 after losing a home series to Cleveland. In their final two games against the Indians the Red Sox pitching staff allowed a total of 21 runs. Eduardo Rodriguez has been shaky on the road with an ERA of 6.35. German looks to rebound after giving up seven earned runs in five innings at Kansas City.

A nice matchup is set in the late night matchup at 10PM Eastern Time on MLB Extra Innings Channel as Oakland Athletics are home to the Houston Astros. Houston will start Brad Peacock as he opposes Athletics righthander Mike Fiers. Houston has opened a seven game lead in the AL West division behind a 37-20 record. Oakland sitting in second place in the division has lost two straight following a ten game win streak. Houston a strong hitting team with a batting average of .270. Astros have a strong bullpen with an ERA of 2.88. Oakland’s surge in May was in account of their hitting showing improvement. Peacock has been strong allowing one run in his past four starts. Fiers was touched up for six runs in 1 2/3rd innings in his start at Houston in early April.
