Washington returns home with a 2-0 lead in this best of seven NLCS. Nationals have gotten great pitching performances out of their staff by posting the 2-0 win in the opener then 3-1 in the second game of this season. Cardinals have been held to one run total in both games at home. Nationals have posted a good record at home at 52-32. Washington needed dramatic comebacks in the eighth innings of their deciding playoff series against the Brewers and Dodgers and came through with late runs in clutch situations to advance this far. Stephen Strasberg makes his second start in the playoffs. He pitched at Dodgers Stadium in both of his NLCS starts and the team came away with victories. In Game 2 Strasberg held LA to one run over six innings. Then in Game five the righty allowed three runs over six innings. Nationals bullpen has been sharp for six of their seven playoff games thus far. Strasberg has faced the Cardinals twice this season allowing two runs over five innings a month ago on the road. Then in early May the righthander allowed one earned run in 6 2/3rd innings.

St Louis with their backs to the wall has their best pitcher in the mound in Jack Flaherty. He pitched twice in the NLCS. In his first start he allowed three runs over seven innings but got no run support in a 3-0 defeat. Then in the series deciding Game 5 the righthander held the Braves to one run over four innings in a 13-1 win by the Cardinals. Flaherty has one previous start against Washington and that came in 2018 where he allowed one run over five innings.
