Navy enters play on a bit of a good run as the team has won seven of their past nine games to become bowl eligible. It was a rough start to the season for the Midshipmen as they were beaten 50-10 by Notre Dame in Ireland and followed up that performance with a 34-7 road defeat at Penn St. The Midshipmen have dominated Army in recent meetings as they have won ten straight including last year’s 27-21 victory against the Black Knights as a -7 point betting favorite. Navy opened up a 14-0 lead early in the game but Army behind Trent Steelman was able to rally the Black Knights to two touchdown drives to knot the score at 14-14 at the half. It was 21-21 entering the fourth quarter and a pair of Jon Teague field goals gave the Midshipmen the winning margin in the end as Navy held Army scoreless in the final stanza. There were high hopes for this Army squad as they returned many starters to their lineup in 2012. Unfortunately they had a poor season on the field as they enter the Navy game with a 2-9 record. Notable performances include 41-40 home loss to BCS bound Northern Illinois in week three and a 41-21 win on November 3rd against rival the Air Force Falcons. Army has shown a good ability to score points with six games with 32 or more points scored this season. Defense was the issue with Army football this season.
