The 2020 All Star Game has a new twist as there are special rules. Each team will be competing for charity money to win each of the first three quarters to try and motivate competitive play for the first 36 minutes. The final quarter is untimed. A target score will be determined after three quarters by adding 24 points to the leading team. Whichever team reaches the target score first will be declared the winner and the game will end.

Team LeBron will be led by the captain LeBron James. Each captain was able to draft his roster of All Stars. Notables on Team Lebron are Anthony Davis and Kawhi Leonard. Other starters include Luca Doncic and James Harden. Players coming off the bench include Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook Nikola Jokic and Ben Simmons. Devin Booker will replace an injured Damian Lillard. Luca Doncic recently returned to action following an injury. The talented second year player did complete in the rising stars challenge on Friday night. Doncic played 23 minutes. He finished with 16 points and five assists in Team USA’s 20 point win against Team World.

Team Giannis is led by captain Giannis Antetokounmpo. His first pick in the draft was a bench player in Khris Middleton. That is what allowed LeBron James to select both Anthony Davis and Kawhi Leonard. Starters include Trae Young, Joel Embiid, Kemba Walker and Pascal Siakam. The draft for the starters turned out to be an East vs. West game. The bench will feature both Eastern and Western conference players on both sides. Players of note on the bench for Team Giannis are Jimmy Butler, Donavan Mitchell, and Kyle Lowry. Trae Young did compete in the Rising Stars game on Friday night. Young played 19 minutes and finished with 18 points hitting 53.8% from the field.
