LA and Portland have seven games remaining in the regular season. Portland holds the third seed in the Western conference. They have a 2 ½ game lead on the fifth seeded Oklahoma City Thunder which brings home court in the first round of the playoffs. They can be no greater than the third seed in the west. LA Clippers hold the ninth seed but is just a game back if the eighth seeded Utah Jazz. Clippers have a game left facing Utah on the road in a week. LA has won three straight after their 12 point road win at Phoenix on Wednesday. They have a notable 11 point road win at Toronto.
