The Detroit Pistons are vying for a playoff spot and on Tuesday the club will be hosting the Miami Heat at 7:30PM Eastern Time nationally available on NBA TV. Since cutting Josh Smith from their roster the Detroit Pistons had the look of an Eastern conference playoff cinch as the team was piling up wins and moving up the ladder in the standings. But an unfortunate injury occurred as guard Branding Jennings tore his Achilles and will be lost for the season. The Pistons sit at 18-30 and reside in the 10th seed trailing the eighth seeded Charlotte Hornets by 2 ½ games for the final playoff spot. Miami enters play with a mark of 21-26 and hold the seven seed in the Eastern conference only 2 ½ games ahead of the ninth seeded Brooklyn Nets. They will be without Dwyane Wade for at least two weeks as the guard is battling a hamstring injury. The offensive production has come from veteran Chris Bosh who is averaging 21 points per game.

At 10PM Eastern Time on NBA League Pass Channel the Portland Trailblazers are home to the Utah Jazz. Utah sits near the basement of the Western conference in the 13th seed and 10 games behind eighth seeded Phoenix Suns for the final playoff berth. The Jazz has struggled on the defensive end of the court allowing 46% shooting and 37% from the three point line to opponents which ranks near the bottom of the league. Portland has lost three straight and five of their past six games. LaMarcus Aldridge the team’s leading scorer and rebounder is playing through a thumb injury that requires surgery.

The Sacramento Kings return home from their East Coast trip as they host the Golden St Warriors at 10PM Eastern Time over NBA League Pass Channel. The Warriors hold a three game lead for the top spot out west over surging Memphis. They broke a two game slide with an 18 point home win on Saturday to Phoenix. Sacramento at 17-29 on the year has fallen out of playoff contention and in their five point road win at Indiana on Saturday snapped an eight game losing streak.
