Playoff contenders tangle at 8PM Eastern Time on ESPN TV as the Houston Rockets will welcome into town the LA Clippers. Since the All Star break the Clippers were playing good basketball posting no less than 110 points in three games. That came to an end on Monday night as they dropped a 90-87 home decision to the Memphis Grizzlies. LA will still be without Blake Griffin who is bothered by an elbow injury. He has a staph infection that could keep him out of the lineup until early in March. The Clippers are ranked second in the league in both scoring and shooting percentage as they average 107 points per game and hits on 47% from the floor. Houston is dealing with injury issues as Dwight Howard is sidelined with a knee injury and isn’t expected back into the lineup until sometime in the middle of March. They enter play with a two game win streak after an 11 point home win to Minnesota on Monday night.

The late night game out west gets started at 10:30PM Eastern Time over ESPN as the Portland Trailblazers will host the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs have struggled this season as the club is 34-22 on the season and sit in seventh seed out west just five games ahead of the New Orleans Pelicans for the final playoff spot. The Spurs usually get fined tuned for their playoff run during their rodeo road trip. This season San Antonio has struggled on this nine game road trip as the team is 2-4 in their first six games. They come off a nine point road loss at Utah on Monday night scoring just 81 points with two days off between games. Portland will be well rested since dropping a 98-92 home decision to Memphis on Sunday that extended their losing streak to two games. They are on a two game losing streak after scoring just 76 points at Utah on Friday.
