Navy enters play with a record of 6-1. The team has become bowl eligible recovering from a down season in 2018. This will be the Midshipmen’s third road game of the year. The first resulted in a 35-23 defeat at Memphis. Then a few weeks later the team posted a 45-17 win at Tulsa. Navy carries a five game win streak after a home win against a quality opponent in Tulane last week 41-38. Midshipmen stormed out to the 21-0 lead after one quarter and it was 24-0 midway through the second quarter. The team then allowed a furious rally by the Green Wave and the game was tied at 31-31 with just over ten minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. The team’s then exchanged touchdowns with the Green Wave tying the score with a minute left. Navy then drove the field and kicked a game winning field goal from 48 yards as time expired. Senior quarterback Malcom Perry leads the Midshipmen on the ground with 934 yards rushing for 6-4 yards per carry and 14 touchdowns. He has tossed for 557 yards and four touchdowns. Navy a triple option offense rushes for 351 yards per game for 5.9 yards per carry.

Connecticut carries a record of 2-6. Their six game losing streak was ended last week in a 56-35 road win at Massachusetts. It was the highest point output by far for the Huskies who’s prior high point total was 24 points at home to FCS school Wagner. Connecticut has struggled to defend this season giving up 430 yards per game with 197 on the ground for 5.4 yards per carry. Rush defense is the concern for the Huskies as they face the good run game by Navy.
