Wyoming finished with a surprising straight up record of 8-4 this season despite going with a freshman quarterback this season.

Quarterback Bret Smith completed 60% of his passes for 2495 yards and 18 touchdowns with eight interceptions.

Smith is a threat to run the football with 666 yards rushing and a nice 5.5 yards a carry average with 10 touchdowns on the ground to his credit.

Wyoming was a very balanced offense in 2011 with 213 yards passing and 186 yards coming from their ground game per game in 2011.

Wyoming is 2-0 ATS in their past two bowl games with an outright win against UCLA in the 2004 Las Vegas Bowl and a dramatic 35-28 victory against the Fresno St Bulldogs in the New Mexico Bowl two years ago as a +10 ½ point underdog.

The Temple Owls are 8-4 on the year and are a run first team.

They are led on the ground by running back Bernard Pierce who has rushed for 1381 yards with 25 touchdowns and a 5.6 yards per rush average.

The Owls will be playing in their second bowl in the past 31 years.

They were defeated in the 2009 Eagle Bank Bowl by a bad UCLA Bruins team 30-21 as a +4 ½ point underdog.

A schedule analysis reveals Temple beating up some very weak opponents the past three weeks.

Earlier this season they fought Penn St to a 14-10 defeat but were pounded by Toledo 36-13.

Temple has been outgained by their opponents in three of their past four games with the level of competition extremely weak.

The Cowboys have notched an impressive 30-27 win at San Diego St as well as a 25-17 win at Air Force.

San Diego St and Air Force run the football pretty well.
