This is a rematch of the exciting game these two teams played over three weeks ago at Madison Square Garden. Behind a strong fourth quarter the Knicks won 104-97 as a 2 point underdog as the closing betting line. New York had 32 fourth quarter points to the Mavericks 22. Jeremy Lin continued the Linsanity with 28 points and 14 assists as he connected on 11 of 20 from the floor. Dirk Nowitzki in a losing cause made 11 of 20 from the field for 34 points.

The Knicks do have the benefit of rest in this game as the club last played on Sunday night in their 115-111 road loss to the Boston Celtics in overtime as a +1 point underdog. Since Carmelo Anthony returned into the Knicks lineup the team has a losing record at 2-3. New York has lost all of their road games since the return of Anthony. Carmelo is shooting terribly from the field for the Knicks with just a 40.2% shooting percentage which is nearly 6 points lower than last year’s 46.1% mark from the field.

It has been rough sledding for the defending NBA world champions as they have dropped four of their past five games. They will play tonight on the back end of a back to back and their third game in four nights facing travel by plane in each game. They are coming off the hard fought 4 point loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder last night. The Mavs did cover the +7 point underdog point spread with was their first successful cover in their past eight games. The biggest issue for this Dallas team has been their offense as they can only muster 94 points a game and connect on 43.7% from the floor. They could have a huge hole in the middle tonight as center Brendan Haywood is listed as doubtful with an injury to his ankle.
