Ohio St has two locks in the first round of the NFL draft. Chase Young is the best defensive player projected in the draft. Young completed three seasons at Ohio St with a monster 2019 where he had 16 ½ sacks and 21 tackles for a loss. Ron Rivera built strong defenses in his time with Carolina and now takes over as the head coach of Washington. Redskins with the second pick in the draft is expected to select Young. Cornerback Jeff Okudah is expected to go with pick three to the Detroit Lions who employs a defensive minded coach in Mike Patricia. Running back JK Dobbins is rated as the 29th player in the draft. He averaged 6.2 yards per run in his career with Ohio St and contributed in the passing game with 71 receptions and 11 receiving touchdowns. Draft experts project Dobbins to be a long term running back in the league. Pass rushers, quarterbacks and receivers are always in high demand early so needs will determine if Dobbins is selected in the first round.

Clemson has a lock in the first round in linebacker Isaiah Simmons. A redshirt freshman started in his three full seasons with the Tigers. Simmons had a huge 2019 campaign with eight sacks and 16.5 tackles for loss. He is projected as the fourth pick of the draft to the New York Giants. Wide receiver Tee Higgins is projected as the 31st best prospect. The wideout saw significant action in his final two seasons with the Tigers. In 2019 Higgins caught 59 passes with 19.8 yards per reception. Cornerback A.J. Terrell is the third best draft prospect from Clemson. Terrell picked off five passes in his final two seasons. He started two of his three seasons in college. Experts want to see Terrell add strength as he struggled preventing receivers to get off the line of scrimmage in man coverage.
