The NFL draft will be held on Thursday April 23rd with the league hopeful to begin the season without a hitch in September. A look at the odds for the first running back taken in the 2020 NFL draft.

The current odds at Oddsmaker, where the bonuses are the best in the business has D’Andre Swift favored to be chosen as the first running back in the draft at -400 odds. Swift saw significant action during his three seasons with the Bulldogs. He rushed for over 1000 yards in his final two years and finished his college career averaging 6.6 yards per run. D’Andre Swift does contribute in the passing game with 73 receptions in college with 9.1 yards per catch average.

Second in the wagering is Jonathan Taylor at +200 odds. Jonathan Taylor was heavily used in his three seasons with the Wisconsin Badgers. During his career in college, Taylor rushed the football 926 times running for 6.7 yards per carry and 50 touchdowns. He ran no fewer than 299 times in any of his three seasons. He had eight pass catches in each of his first two seasons at Wisconsin that surged to 26 in his junior campaign.

Next is JK Dobbins who returns +800 odds. Dobbins saw significant work in all thee years with the Ohio St Buckeyes. As a freshman he rushed for 1407 yards with 7.2 yards per carry. He was heavily used in his junior campaign running the football 301 times with 2003 yards and 6.7 yards per carry average. He averaged 24 receptions per season with the Buckeyes.

The longshot is the field bet which brings back +1800 odds. Notable players in the field wager are Clyde Edwards Helaire from LSU and Cam Akers out of Florida St. Helaire exits after three seasons at LSU and had only nine rushing attempts as a freshman. He had a breakout season as a junior running for 1414 yards and 6.6 yards per rush his best in college. What got the scouts attention was his 55 receptions in 2019 for 453 yards. Cam Akers saw heavy work in all three years with the Seminoles. The running back got his heaviest work in his final year with Florida St with 231 carries and 5 yards per carry average. He caught 30 passes in 2019 with 7.5 yards per average.
