The NFL draft is about need. Quarterbacks, wide receivers and pass rushers are a premium in the first round of the draft. Cincinnati Bengals have the first pick. It appears they have given up on starting quarterback Andy Dalton who is still under contract. Bengals have stated they are willing to hear trade offers for Dalton. Joe Burrow is lightly going to Cincinnati. Also, in need for a quarterback is the Miami Dolphin with the fifth pick. On the Dolphins roster is Ryan Fitzpatrick and Josh Rosen. It is very possible that Tua Tagovailoa will be available. Miami also has 18th and 28th pick in the first round.

LA Chargers hold the sixth pick in the draft. Gone is Phillip Rivers who leaves in free agency to Indianapolis. Tyrod Taylor was the backup to Rivers last year and many experts have LA going with a quarterback here. Chargers are expected to decide between Justin Herbert and Jordan Love. A team in the need in the Top Ten of the first round for a starting quarterback are the Jacksonville Jaguars who select ninth in this draft. On their roster right now are Gardner Minshew and Joshua Dobbs at quarterback. Jaguars also have the 20th pick in the first round. Jacksonville needs receiver help. They must decide if they want the fourth rated quarterback at nine or get a higher rated receiver with pick nine in this draft.

Washington Redskins with pick two are unlikely to go with a quarterback in this spot. Ron Rivera in his first year with Washington is likely to build the defense and select Chase Young to work with his defensive coordinator in Jack Del Rio. Detroit Lions have the third pick in the draft. Matthew Stafford battled injuries last season but if the Lions are to go with a quarterback, they will likely have to make a draft day trade of Stafford.
