Boston goes up 1-0 in his best of seven series by defeating St Louis 4-2 on Tuesday. St Louis opened the series with a first period goal by Brayden Schenn. Then the Blues made it 2-0 at 1:00 of the second period with a goal by Vladimir Tarasenko with an assist by Schenn. The Bruins took over the game scoring the final four goals of this game for the win. Second period goals by Clifton and McAvoy tied the game at 2-2 after two periods. Kuraly put the Bruins up for good with a goal at 5:21 of the third period. Brad Marchand completed the scoring for Boston with an empty netter at 18:11. Boston took control of the opener in the final two periods by outshooting the Blues 30-12. In the second period Boston had 18 shots on goal to St Louis 3 shots. Goalie Tuukka Rask for Boston turned away 18 of 20 shots while Binnington faced 37 shots saving 34. Tuukka Rask has allowed two goals or fewer in six straight and nine of his past ten games in regulation time. Entering the Stanley Cup Finals St Louis rookie goaltender Jordan Binnington had allowed two goals in their three straight wins against San Jose to win the Western conference finals.

It is now an eight game win streak in the playoffs for the Boston Bruins. Their penalty kill has been outstanding allowing just one goal in their past 26 times shorthanded. Boston looked faster on the ice than St Louis and the Blues were sloppy passing the puck. Bruins win the opener despite 11 days of rest.
