San Jose opened the playoffs against the Vegas Golden Knights. Team fell behind 3-1 in the series. In Game 5 the Sharks win handily 5-2. Then on Easter Sunday the Sharks were in Vegas for Game 6 and the team was 1-1 after the first overtime period. They were outshot by 30 then took a penalty in the second overtime. San Jose then wins Game 6 on a short handed goal that forced a Game 7. Down 3-0 in Game 7 the Golden Knights were handed a five minute major late and the Sharks scored four goals to take the 4-3 lead. Vegas ties the game at 4-4 and the series goes into overtime again. A goal by Goodrow early in overtime advanced the Sharks to round two. San Jose needed seven games in the second round as they defeat Colorado 3-2 at home in the seventh and deciding game.
