The Phoenix Suns will enter play tonight concluding the back end of a back to back to back on Wednesday night as they blew a 15 point lead in their 101-99 home loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Phoenix went 0-3 in those three games and have a very old roster so one day of rest may not be enough to recharge this team who on their day off yesterday faced the hassle of traveling into Los Angeles. The Suns have not played well defensively allowing 51.3% shooting to Denver on Tuesday and 47.5% to and Atlanta Hawk team on Wednesday where were on the back end of a back to back. The Suns traveled to Staples Center on January 10th and dropped a 99-83 decision as a +7 ½ point underdog. The Suns shot just 42.5% in defeat.

The Lakers returned home from their long road trip and shut down the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night in an 86-78 win. The LA defense was good as it has been all season by allowing Atlanta just 34.4% shooting. The Lakers are the top field goal defense in all of the NBA allowing opponents just 41.7% from the field on the year. Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum make it difficult for teams to find good looks in the paint. Those two should be able to take away scoring from Suns center Marcin Gortat. Gasol and Bynum will get good looks in close as the Suns don’t have the personnel to contain the Lakers big two underneath the basket. Kobe Bryant will have his legs back tonight with the two nights of rest. He did not do much on Tuesday night with 10 points in the win against the Hawks.
