The question going into Monday night football is whether it will be Ben Roethlisberger or Charlie Batch at quarterback when Pittsburgh travels cross country to face the San Francisco 49ers.

The current betting line as posted by Oddsmaker, the sportbook with the best player bonuses, has the 49ers favored by -3 points with a total of 38 points.

Bettors who will play San Francisco on the money line will find a -155 lay price.

If you like Pittsburgh and would like to bet them at Oddsmaker on the money line your take back price is +135 odds.

Both teams have identical 10-3 records. San Francisco has clinched the NFC west division and controls their destiny for a bye in the first round of the playoffs.

Ben Roethlisberger is suffering through a high ankle sprain which forced the quarterback into very limited reps at practice.

It is very likely that the quarterback question for Monday night football could be answered in the moments leading up to game time as they may have Roethlisberger test out his ankle during warm ups.

Charlie Batch is the back up and saw work in 2010 filling in for a suspended Ben Roethlisberger.

The 14 year pro in three games last year for Big Ben hit on 59% of his passes for only 352 yards with three touchdowns and three picks. That is only 117 yards passing per game.

The Steelers have relied on the pass with Roethlisberger under center as the team averages 257 yards passing per game.

Without Ben in the lineup there is a huge drop off in offensive production.

That means we could see a lot of running backs Rashard Mendenhall, Issac Redman and Mewelde Moore running the football.

Mendenhall has 710 yards rushing this season but only a 3.8 yards per rush average.

Redman on 81 carries comes in with 4.4 yards per rush.

The 49ers are coming in off a loss last week to the Arizona Cardinals by the score of 21-19.

San Francisco blew a 12 point third quarter lead in defeat.

With the team enjoying a winning season and earning the NFC west division a major issue offensively with the team has been hidden to most of the general public.

The 49ers have struggled big time inside the red zone as they have had many empty possessions as well as field goal attempts.

The trending numbers point to an under. The Steelers have gone under three straight times with San Francisco playing to an under the total of three of their past four games.

The 49ers have allowed 10 or less points at home to opponent in 4 of their past five home games.

They will tee up Monday night football between the Steelers and 49ers from San Francisco at 8:30PM Eastern Time. The game is nationally televised over ESPN.
