The pitching matchups for Thursday’s afternoon game will pit veteran right hander Matt Cain on the hill for the Giants as he will oppose Yovani Gallardo for the Milwaukee Brewers. Cain has started three games for the Giants and has two good outings and one really horrific outing that is impacting his pitching numbers. On April 7 in his second start this year the SF righty starter was tagged for nine earned runs and seven hits over 3 2/3rd innings at home against the Atlanta Braves as a -125 betting favorite. Cain bounced back from that poor outing with a no decision on Friday as he surrenders two earned runs over seven innings at the Chicago Cubs. On April 1st he shut the LA Dodgers out over six innings. Cain hasn’t got much run support as the game has pushed across three or less runs per game over his three starts. Right hander Yovani Gallaro is on the hill making his fourth start of the year for Milwaukee. It has been a rough season thus far as the veteran sits an ERA of 6.61 and teams are getting on base against him .395 on base percentage. Milwaukee has won both games thus far in this best of three set.
