The Best of the NL Worst!!!

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks head into their weekend series against one another with first place on the line in the NL West. Arizona currently holds a one-game lead over the Dodgers for the top spot in the division. The Dodgers played .484 ball (46-49) throughout the first half of their season, while the Diamondbacks entered the break one game under .500 at 47-48. Those numbers are correct people! Not one team entered the All Star break with a winning record leaving the NL West up for grabs as we enter the second half of the season.

The Dodgers went into the break off a series loss at home to the Florida Marlins, while the Diamondbacks closed out the first half of their season on the road splitting six-games against the Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies. In its five meetings thus far this season, the D’Backs have held the upper hand securing victories four times. They’ve also had the Dodgers number at home winning five of the L/6 overall meetings in the desert.

Friday night’s match-up pits (5-6) Hiroki Kuroda and his solid 3.43 ERA against lefthander Doug Davis and his 3-4 overall mark. Saturday evening’s affair should be a good one when (9-8) Chad Billingsley squares off against Dan Haren and his miniscule 2.72 ERA. The Dodgers will throw righty Derek Lowe in the series finale against (13-4) Brandon Webb and his 3.23 ERA.
